I will decorate the neck off all the women of the world with a strand of pearls.   -   Kokichi Mikimoto After decades of seeding and creating pearls on July 11, 1893 a bamboo basket, was raised out of the Ago Sea by Kokichi Mikimoto. With great anticipation Mikimoto opened one of the Oysters, and there, inside the shell, he discovered a shining pearl that he had cultured. This was the first time in history that a human being had ever created a pearl. With this creation Kokichi's urge to inquire grew stronger. The enchanting appeal by the mysterious glow of the legendary black lipped pearls and the silver lipped pearls led Mikimoto into the "art" of culturing these rare finds. To this day, the name MIKIMOTO is spoken of with reverence. His legacy lives on in the pearls that bare his name, and are cultivated with the same precision and attention of the original pearl ever created. Back Click image to view collection
